Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III, born February 8, 1960, also known as Noynoy Aquino or PNoy, is a Filipino politician who has been the 15th President of the Philippines since June 2010.

He is the third of the five children of Benigno S. Aquino, Jr., who was then the Vice Governor of Tarlac province, and Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino, former President of the Philippines.

Aquino was elected to the House of Representatives of the Philippines in 1998, representing the 2nd district of Tarlac. Aquino won re-election in 2001 and 2004, and served until 2007.

Barred from running for re-election to the House of Representatives of the Philippines, to represent the 2nd district of Tarlac, due to term limits, Aquino was elected to the Senate of the Philippines in the 2007 Philippine midterm election on May 15, 2007, under the banner of the Genuine Opposition (GO), a coalition comprising a number of parties, including Aquino's own Liberal Party, seeking to curb attempts by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to amend the 1986 Philippine Constitution.

His father was the Philippines’ most famous political martyr, his mother its most beloved President. Benigno (“Noynoy”) Aquino III inherited that legacy and, boosted by national mourning at the death of Corazon Aquino in August 2009, won the presidency in 2010. President Aquino quickly began making his own name. The sputtering economy stabilized and became hot. Aquino pushed through a reproductive-rights law that many said was impossible in the fervently Catholic nation. Most important, he became the face of the regional confrontation with Beijing over its claim to virtually all of the South China Sea. It is a brave stance, the long-term consequences still unknown.

President Noynoy Aquino’s first night at his new home wasn’t really languid, the report said. He said he has to adjust to the position of light switches, his new bed and his new room. He opted to stay at Bahay Pangarap instead of staying in Malacañang Palace, the official residence of a Philippine President.

President Aquino said that even though he prefers to stay at home in Times Street Quezon City, for security reason he has accepted to stay more often at Bahay Pangarap which is just five minutes to cross the river aboard the presidential barge to his Malacanang office. Bahay Pangarap is located on the opposite side of the Pasig River fronting Malacañang.

Originally, Bahay Pangarap was a one-room house; three additional rooms were built for the guests, household staff and close-in security.
